Much like Full Tilt Poker, when both Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker were closed down by the DoJ on Black Friday (15th April 2011), neither of the sites had the capability to re-pay members funds owed to them. There was one big difference however, unlike Full Tilt Poker, neither of these sites negotiated with the DoJ; to open under the pretence of paying back members. Full Tilt opened for business again and still did not pay back members.

Both Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker are online poker brands, owned by Blanca Games; a company that acquired the Cereus poker network in August 2010, and are licensed by the Kahwanake Gaming Commission (KGC). The KGC has now raised member hopes that they may be paid back the funds still owed to them, when the sites were unilaterally closed down with no notice given to members. Most of these members had written off the funds locked in their accounts, but they may yet be in luck. In a KGC press release, it was stated that Blanca Games is attempting to liquidate some assets in order to pay back these members.

The big question on everyone's lips is "can Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker pay back customers before Full Tilt ever does?"
